Based in Japan, Thaddeus Pope is an event photography specialist who has photographed dozens of international events and conferences in Osaka, Kobe and Nagoya (Japan), London and Brighton (UK), Barcelona (Spain), Hawaii and Rhode Island (USA), and Dubai (UAE).
In his role as the principal photographer for The International Academic Forum (IAFOR), Thaddeus has photographed events organised with the Government of Japan, The Wall Street Journal, J. Walter Thompson, Merrill Lynch, The American Chamber of Commerce Japan (ACCJ), University College London (UCL), the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP), Virginia Tech, Osaka University, the University of Hawaii and the University of Barcelona.
Over the years, Thaddeus has had the privilege of meeting and photographing leading figures from a diverse range of fields and industries, including government ministers, politicians, diplomats, university presidents, charity leaders, movie directors, journalists, company presidents, actors, activists, artists, musicians, lawyers, jurists, poets, writers, clergy, scientists and philosophers. His event photography has appeared in Newsweek (Japan), Eye Magazine and The Japan Times, among others.
Thaddeus’s approach to event photography is informed by his extensive documentary photography experience. As a documentarian, Thaddeus aims to capture moments of genuine emotion and excitement which best encapsulate the mood and story of each event he photographs. He achieves this by working quietly and unobtrusively as a “fly-on-the-wall” observer.
